Rōshi (老紫, Rōshi) is the Jinchūriki of the Four-Tailed Beast. He was captured by Kisame Hoshigaki of Akatsuki and later died as the result of having the Four-Tails extracted from his body.

Rōshi, hailing from Iwagakure in the Land of Earth, was imbued with the Four-Tails at a young age. At some point in his life he went on a journey to understand and control the excessive power of the Four-Tailed Beast residing within him. Later revealed in a shippuden filler arc, Rōshi was in-line for next Tsuchikage for the land of earth. HE later fled the village after a sligth out burst of his biju causing a flow of lava to destroy and kill many villagers and parts of the village.

During his journey, he encountered Kisame and battled him. Even though Rōshi used the Four-Tails' power, he was defeated. Later, Akatsuki extracted and sealed the Four-Tails, which led to Rōshi's death. It's possible that Zetsu ate his corpse afterwards, as he usually does this with anyone who is involved with the Akatsuki and it's objectives.

Abilities: Rōshi is shown to be well strengthened in Taijutsu and Ninjutsu, As seen when at the beginning of his and Kisame's match matching kisame's movements with taijutsu. Rōshi is also shown to be able to channel heat quickly as heat waves or ash, and even using hi the Yonbi's powers to create lava from mixing Earth Release and Fire Release. Also stated by kisame Rōshi is the only person capable of using Lava.
